London based singer/songwriter Martika L.A. releases her debut single ‘Give Me Your Love’ via Soko Records, in December. Written by Martika L.A. and produced by Eagle Eye.
For her debut solo project Martika L.A. filmed the new music video for pop track ‘Give Me Your Love’ in the heat and sunshine of Jamaica – capturing the carnival-vibe and hedonism of the track in her safari-inspired fashion ensembles.
Martika L.A has been living and breathing music since the day she was born: her mother was a backing singer for Sting and Faithless and her father played bass with the Rebel MC and Urban Species.
Growing up in such a musical household and listening to artists like Prince and Aaliyah has had a lasting influence on her music and songwriting.
She is a keen pianist and dancer and, don’t mess with her as she’s a keen martial artist too!
She was spotted on MySpace in 2009 where her musical talent and mixed heritage beauty (She is part Ghanaian, Greek, British and Dominican) saw her fast-tracked into girl group Ruff Diamondz. With RD she recorded and sang with for two years, supporting JLS on tour and playing to tens of thousands of fans.
Since departing the group she has been focused on writing and recording material for her solo album. Now armed with a new sophistication and mature sound, Martika L.A. presents her first solo project and invites her fans to join her for the next chapter.
Remixes courtesy of Flukes (House remix) and an acoustic remix by Kevin McPherson are released as part of the single package.
